Public sentiment & favorability campaign

THE CHALLENGE:
Penn State needed to drive trust and affinity among Pennsylvania voters in order to ensure the continuation of public funding.

THE SOLUTION:
Within a larger multi-year campaign showcasing Penn State's global impact, we launched “It’s Not Science Fiction,” a pair of TV spots that highlight groundbreaking scientific research at Penn State. Through animation we were able to help our audience understand the tangible benefits this research will have in their daily lives. We gave the work a sense of near-future reality while using a playfully grand scale to underscore the immense importance of the research.

MY PART:
I was the working ACD Art for this campaign — concepting the ‘monumental’ storytelling device for conveying these scientific breakthroughs, as well as concepting the ‘It’s not science fiction’ line. I oversaw the illustration & animation partners at FORT, executing this campaign from pitch to script to trafficked in less than three months.

 THE OUTCOME:
This visualization strategy succeeded in demystifying complex scientific concepts, significantly boosting public understanding and support, and playing a crucial role in securing ongoing funding for Penn State's research endeavors.
